Confocal microscope reconstructs three-dimensional images by using a spatial pinhole to eliminate out of focus light or flare. Even the resolution is a little bit lower than other SPMs (Scanning Probe Microscope such as AFM, MFM and CFM), the scanning speed is much faster. Because of these advantages, this technique has been gaining popularity in the scientific and industrial applications. Typical applications include life science and semiconductor inspection. It can also measure micro channels or other microstructures of the biomedical field.
